It improves your child's thinking and memory. It helps your child develop positive study skills and habits that will serve him or her well throughout life. Homework encourages your child to use time wisely. ...Homework teaches your child to take responsibility for his or her work. Regular accomplishments like finishing homework build self-esteem, which aids students' mental and physical health. Responsibility and time management are highly desirable qualities that benefit students long after they graduate. Ideally, the purpose of homework is to help reinforce what was taught in class. Sometimes its purpose is to gather extra information beyond what was taught in class. Why I believe writing is important! Writing is the primary basis upon which one's work, learning, and intellect will be judged—in college, in the work place and in the community. Writing equips us with communication and thinking skills. Writing expresses who we are as people. Writing makes our thinking and learning visible and permanent. Why is vocabulary skills important? Comprehension improves when you know what the words mean. Since comprehension is the ultimate goal of reading, you cannot overestimate the importance of vocabulary development. Words are the currency of communication. A robust vocabulary improves all areas of communication — listening, speaking, reading and writing. |
